SOCIAL BONDING

BACKGROUND :

OSVSWA was founded and promoted by a group of eminent freedom fighters, social reformers and activists with the ideology of promoting volunteerism, grassroot voluntary action and people-centred development with the twin concept of ‘Development through Participation’ and ‘Development through Sustainability’. OSVSWA, as a change agent and in the Social Change Process, has been consistently working since its inception with strict adherence to the principle and ideologies as thrust upon by the founders by initiating voluntary and social action based on Gandhian Philosophy of community development.

The organization has been efficient in its ideology of dedication and commitment towards the underprivileged, marginalized and excluded sections of rural and tribal population and has been engaged in their empowerment through various social, economic, environmental, educational, infrastructural development, and planning and research programs. The organization has also been engaged with few burning social, economic, environmental and action for youth issues from time to time and active in related public policy advocacy and networking activities in association with various government, international and local partners.

In order to achieving immediate and lasting change in the lives and livelihoods of the unprivileged, disadvantaged, marginalized and weaker sections of the society, OSVSWA to empower and buildup capacity of the people and to undertake multi-sector development interventions using breakthrough innovations and technological initiatives based on the twin concept of ‘Development through Participation’ and ‘Development through Sustainability.

Joining OSVSWA Work Camp on the SOCIAL BONDING is a great way to give back to the needy communities while learning about the living condition and quality of life of the people of Odisha.

This is exactly what the gap year travelers joining for collection of data, analysis and developing project proposals for livelihoods of the local communities, support in Administration work of the organization, Managing Social Media, Fund Raising, Organizing Campaign for Peace and Development, and Carryout issue based campaigns.

Duration: 3 weeks
Number of volunteers: 12-15
Participation fee: 250 EURO (excluding registration fees)

LANGUAGE:
English will be the language in the camp; basic conversational skills are needed. Surviving local language will be taught during the camp.

ACCOMMODATION:
Volunteers will be hosted in a local house / community house / volunteer house; sleeping on beds or mattresses in several rooms, shared by 2-4 volunteers each. Volunteers will share the duties of preparing food, cooking meals and cleaning. Please keep in mind that during this work camp, food will be provided by OSVSWA, which also means eating mainly local food, but will be taken care of less spicy.

EXTRAS / SPECIAL REMARKS:
Free time activities will be organized for OSVSWA volunteers; as day trips and excursions in the area, picnic in forest / tourist places, meeting with government officials to share the experience.
